Athletics
Promotion
SAAC is committed to helping varsity teams organize, promote and
staff highlighted contests and initiatives. We are dedicated to
supporting athletes through efforts that increase attendance and
enhance school spirit throughout the MIT community.
If you would like assistance in promoting a specific varsity
event or are interested in joining SAAC, please contact SAAC today!
Community Service
SAAC is committed to connecting MIT student-athletes with
community service opportunities in the Cambridge and Boston area.
We are proud to have a long-established partnership with the Boston
Collegiate Charter School, a relationship that culminates in the
annual Experience MIT event. Fondly referred to as
Kid’s Day by the members of SAAC, over 100
middle school students get the opportunity to visit MIT, explore
the DAPER facilities and play sports with
student-athletes.
SAAC has also partnered with the football team in staffing the
annual Be the Match bone marrow registry drive.
Hundreds of students, faculty and staff, including student-athletes
have joined the registry that assists in finding matches for those
in need of a bone marrow transplant.
SAAC hopes to continue these partnerships, as well as
exploring new ways to assist teams in identifying volunteer
opportunities throughout the community. If you would like
assistance in finding community service opportunities or are
interested in joining existing SAAC efforts, please contact

Health and Wellness
SAAC is committed to providing student-athletes the resources,
guidance and information they need to maximize sport performance,
and promote personal and community well-being. The Health and
Wellness committee focuses on a wide variety of issues important to
student-athletes, including nutrition, hazing, substance abuse, sexual assault and
stress reduction.
In addition, SAAC is currently involved in revitalizing the
department’s Faculty Mentor Program. Faculty
mentors are a group of faculty and staff interested in furthering
the integration of student-athletes within the ideals and mission
of the Institute. These committed individuals are dedicated to the
idea of building a harmonious connection between the academic,
athletic and social cultures of our campus.
SAAC welcomes your feedback about health and wellness
initiatives that are important to student-athletes. If you would
like to provide ideas about specific topics that should be
addressed or would like to join in current SAAC health and wellness
projects, please contact SAAC today!
