What This Project Means to the MIT Student-Athletes, Coaches and Staff
Dr. G. Anthony Grant (Director of Athletics/DAPER Department Head)
"Providing appropriate resources is an essential component of our student-athletes' training programs. The expansion of the sports performance facility will better position DAPER to meet the needs of our varsity student-athletes, as well as expand training and teaching opportunities for the broader student population."
Â
Erica Radler '23 (Field Hockey)
"A renovation to this facility will allow our teams to stay competitive at the highest level. While our current space limits functionality, a larger layout with more equipment will increase this and allow all athletes to work and grow together. I am immensely appreciative of the support that donors provide to MIT athletics to create the experience I value so much."
Â
Sam Gozelski '22 (Football)
"There are huge differences in the energy and culture of our football team when training together vs. alone. When we are able to lift together, we push each other to be better. Particularly when we max out on our lifts, having teammates around you to hype you up makes all the difference. The weight room expansion will facilitate safer, more functional, team focused training that will translate to more wins in the fall."
Â
Madison Sullivan (Head Coach - Softball)
"The SPC represents more than just where a varsity athlete can work out. It's a time as a team to bond over another athletic identity outside of our sports. It's a time to work on athleticism and power, things that are difficult to improve in a skills practice. It represents diligence, time management, and dedication to a process. For most of our athletes, this is the single biggest factor that separates them from being a high school athlete to college."
