- Majoring in mechanical engineering with a minor in management and a concentration in economics

- Worked with MIT Sea Grant and the Office of Naval Research to improve early stage propulsion system design for Navy ships

- Three-year letter winner in baseball at Oak Park High School, where he was the team captain as a senior
- In 64.2 innings pitched, he recorded a 3.25 ERA with 56 strikeouts
