Robin Zemp joined the MIT coaching staff in 2023 as an assistant coach, marking his entry into the world of American college volleyball. Despite his newcomer status, his coaching experience spans approximately a decade.

Zemp’s coaching journey began at the age of 17 when he served as a junior trainer in Lucerne, Switzerland. Progressing swiftly, he assumed the role of assistant to the men's national head coach within his club team. Zemp contributed both coaching skills and statistical insights to the Volley Top Lucern Women's Volleyball Team over a span of two years (Top Volley Luzern National League A). During this time, he was chosen as a trainee statistician by Volero Zurich for a Champions League game against VakifBank, affording him the opportunity to learn from the best. Following a break from professional sports, Zemp pursued studies at ETH Zurich. Subsequently, he focused on coaching within the University Sports Association (ASVZ), occasionally contributing as a statistician in international and Champions League events.

Zemp earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from ETH Zurich, Switzerland. In pursuit of his master's in the same field, he arrived in Boston at the close of 2022 to finalize his master's thesis.
