Why I Chose MIT:
- Initially, I was drawn to MIT for its undeniable academic prowess and emphasis on STEM education. I knew that I wanted to continue my athletic career at a top-tier research university, but I struggled to find a school which was, as the MIT website states, “elite but not elitist.” In my conversations with MIT students, athletes, coaches, and alums, I was struck by everyone’s authenticity. MIT students embrace, rather than reject, uniqueness, thereby creating a campus and team culture which both celebrates individuality and emphasizes supporting others in their pursuits. Ultimately, the people make the place, and MIT’s community comprises the world’s most curious, tenacious, and inventive educators and peers- those who bring wildly different perspectives to tackle complex problems for the betterment of all. I am honored to have the opportunity to represent this community on and off the court.
