Why I Chose MIT:
- I toured many schools while deciding what college I wanted to attend and play volleyball. While on campus, each school seemed like it would prepare me well for whatever career I chose. However, all the visits and tours blurred together, and I could not find any distinguishing characteristics to help me determine which school should be my new home. When I visited MIT it stood apart from all the other amazing schools out there. Every person I talked to told me how they had the opportunity to travel the world through MIT, find new and interesting hobbies through MIT’s numerous clubs, or do incredible research as undergraduates. I can’t even remember the specifics of what I learned because I was overwhelmed with information. All I remember is that I walked around saying “WOAH” so much that it must have gotten very annoying. The wonder and awe that I felt at the opportunities available at this school convinced me this was the place I would be happiest academically. I also wanted a school at which I could grow as a volleyball player. Watching the volleyball team practice and play was what convinced me that this was a place where I could balance and excel in both academics and athletics. The MIT volleyball is a true team, built on trust and respect. I have never met a group of such hardworking, committed players and coaches, and knew that I needed to be a part of this team. The stellar combination of academics and athletics at MIT made me realize this is where I belong.
