Fourteen Men's Swimmers Headed to NCAA Division III Championship

2016 Unofficial Men's Swimming Psych Sheets

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –
After winning its eighth straight New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) title over the weekend, 14 members of the men's swimming and diving team have been selected to participate in the 2016 NCAA Division III Championship, which is scheduled for March 16-19 in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Committee announced the participants unofficially on Wednesday.

Seniors Sean Corcoran (Huntersville, N.C.), Alex Lednev (Glenmont, N.Y.), Bo Mattix (La Canada, Calif.) and Luke Schlueter (St. Louis, Mo.) will be making their fourth straight trip to the National Championship this year, while for classmate Daryl Neubieser (Saratoga, Calif.) this year will mark three appearances on the national stage.

Sophomores Jeremy Bogle (Weston, Mass.), Justin Chiu (Monterey, Calif.), Douglas Kogut (Glen Burnie, Md.) and Joshua Tomazin (Austin, Texas) qualified for the second time in as many years, while junior John Matthews (Yorktown, Va.), sophomore Dane Erickson (Naples, Fla.) and freshmen Josh Graves (Tustin, Calif.), Brandon McKenzie (Newtown, Pa.) and Daniel Smith (Lake Forest, Ill.) will take to the pool at the NCAA Championship for the first time in their respective careers.

On top of the 14 individuals who will compete in Greensboro in three weeks, all five of the MIT relay teams qualified for the championship competition. Both the 200-free relay (second – 1:20.74) and the 400-free relay (fourth – 2:59.80) are seeded in the top-five positions.

Swimmers are allowed to compete in as many as three individual events at NCAA's overall. For events in which they were not selected as qualifiers, they need to have posted an NCAA "B" cut time over the course of the regular season.

The top-eight finishers in each event earn All-America honors, while ninth through 16th are named as honorable mention All-Americans.

On each of the four days of competition, trials will begin at 10:00 a.m. and finals will kick off at 6:00 p.m.
