Arrese-Igor and Wang from Men's Swimming and Diving Named CSC Academic All-America

AUSTIN, Texas. - Sophomores Aitor Arrese-Igor (Delray Beach, Fla.) and Jason Wang (Brentwood, Tenn.) of the MIT men's swimming and diving team have been named to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Men's Swimming and Diving Team, recognizing their achievements both in the pool and in the classroom. 

The Academic All-America Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom.  

Arrese-Igor was named a Third Team Academic All-American for the first time in his career. He sports a 4.0 GPA as a Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science and Decision Making major. He will be an intern this summer at the MIT Energy Initiative and was also a Software Engineer Fellow at Jane Street where he was selected as one of 14 fellows for an intensive 8-week training session. Arrese-Igor also spent time as a Machine Learning Engineer at Aim Labs where he worked on DuceVision, a computer tracking model that produced tennis match statistics. He has also spent time as an undergraduate researcher at the MIT Department of Chemical Engineering and as a Software Engineering at Software FX INC while also being a member of the National Chinese Honor Society. He grabbed five First Team All-Conference honors at the NEWMAC Championships and four All-America honors at the NCAA Swimming and Diving National Championships this season.  

Wang earns Second Team All-America honors with a 4.0 GPA as a Biological Engineering and Management major. He earned two First Team All-Conference and four Second Team All-Conference honors at this year's NEWMAC Championships and was a three time All-American at this year's NCAA Swimming and Diving National Championships. Out of the pool he was a Diversity and Prototyping Intern at Novonesis where he created laundry detergent biomolecules and led the creation of a dairy enzyme. Wang was also a Business Development Intern at JURA Bio where he conducted real estate market analysis of over 40 properties and spent time as a Bryson Lab Researcher at the Department of Biological Engineering at the Ragon Institute of Mass. General – Developed a method to label interactions between two types of immune cells. Additionally, he is a Cell Biology TA, a MIT Associate Advisor, an analyst for MassBioDrive, and a consultant in the MIT Consulting Group. 

The Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Division III Academic All-America® program.
