THE BASICS:

- Location: West Windsor, N.J. (Mercer Lake)
- The Lead: The MIT men's lightweight crew team earned spots in both the Varsity 4+ and Varsity 4- Petite Finals for the second year in a row, however, unsafe weather conditions on Sunday morning resulted in the cancellation of the races.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In Friday's heat, the V4+ was up on Harvard off the start and left Fairfield behind very quickly. MIT and Harvard battled but the Crimson edged out the Engineers for third place by 2.833 seconds. Georgetown won the heat in 6:32.267, followed by Navy (6:33.382), Harvard (6:37.802), MIT (6:40.635), and Fairfield (7:09.777).
- The V4- had a good start in its heat but could not maintain the pace with the Ivy crews, finishing fifth in 6:39.811. Despite the tough competition, sophomore Alden James (Dallas, Texas) had a great performance steering the boat. Princeton claimed the win with a time of 6:22.284, followed by Harvard (6:24.541), Penn (6:26.891), and Yale (6:28.847).
- For Sunday's Petite Finals, the V4+ was slated to race against Penn, Fairfield, and Cornell. The V4-, meanwhile, was scheduled to compete against Temple, Yale, and Georgetown.
