- The Lead: The No. 20 ranked MIT women's soccer team used two goals apiece from sophomores Karenna Groff (Weston, Mass.) and Emily Larson (Ankeny, Iowa) to defeat Bridgewater State University, 10-0, on the road this afternoon in a non-conference matchup. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Senior Montana Reilly (Los Angeles, Calif.) got the scoring started with an unassisted goal just 5:04 into the match. Before the opening 45 minutes were over, the Engineers found themselves up 4-0 behind goals from junior Allie Werner (Tyler, Texas), Groff and Larson. 

- MIT did not let up in the second stanza as the Engineers found the back of the net six more times to make the final score 10-0. Over the final 45 minutes, the Engineers received goals via senior Emily Berzolla (Riverside, Conn.), Groff, Larson, sophomore Jessica Sonner (Naperville, Ill.), sophomore Anna Weinstein (Greenwood Village, Colo.) and junior Sarah Moseson (Morristown, N.J.).

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Larson's two goals marked the first two of her collegiate career, while Reilly, Werner, Groff, Sonner and Moseson all found the back of the net for the first time this season.

- Berzolla and classmate Sophia Struckman (Scottsdale, Ariz.) led the way for the Engineers with two assists each. First-years Daena Schuh (Saint John, Ind.), Kaitlin Zareno (Montebello, Calif.) and Ceci Munoz (Maplewood, N.J.) all picked up their first collegiate assists and points in tonight's match.

- Today was just the fourth time in program history in which MIT has scored double-digit goals. MIT put together 12 goals against Emmanuel on October 10, 2002 and ten goals against both Pine Manor College on October 17, 1985 and Mount Holyoke College on October 6, 2018.

- MIT broke the single-game program record for most goals in the second half of a match with six. The old record was five, which had previously happened on four occasions with the last one coming at Manhattanville College on September 9, 2012.

- MIT keepers Ava Gillikin (Flemington, N.J.) and Haylee Niemann (Las Vegas, Nev.) split duties for the Engineers to earn the combined shutout. Kellie Souza took the loss (0-2-0) with 14 saves in net for the host Bears.

- In total, MIT outshot Bridgewater State 51-8 which included a 26-1 margin on net. The Engineers also took 13 corner kicks compared to two for the Bears.

- MIT travels to Roger Williams University on Tuesday, September 10 for a non-conference match that is slated to start at 4:00 pm.
