The Lead:Â The fifth-ranked MIT women's soccer team got goals from three different players as the Engineers defeated Wellesley, 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon, registering the team's third-straight shutout win.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- First-year
Meagan Rowlett (Dana Point, Calif.) set up senior
Karenna Groff (Weston, Mass.) for the Engineers' first goal of the match at 6:16.
Â
- Rowlett got herself in the goal column at 29:52 when she placed a kick directly over the Blue keeper,
Kendall Lincoln, for her ninth goal of the year.
Â
- At 56:10 in the second half, Groff sent in a perfect corner kick to fellow senior
Maya Nielan (Danville, Calif.) who knocked it in the back of the net to give MIT a 3-0 lead.
Â
- Wellesley put two shots on goal in the half looking to inch closer, but junior
Lauren Castle (Ridgefield, Conn.) turned both chances away to seal the 3-0 MIT win.
