Forester Nets Hat Trick as Engineers Improve to 3-1 on the Season

THE BASICS:

- Score: MIT 10, Husson University 1

- Records: MIT (3-1); Husson (0-1)

- Location: Cambridge, Mass. (Jack Barry Field)

- The Lead: Led by a three-goal, two-assist performer from junior Paige Forester (Glencoe, Ill.), the No. 16 ranked MIT field hockey team defeated Husson University by a 10-1 final on Saturday afternoon in non-conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- It was the Eagles that got on the board first as they converted their first shot of the game into a goal by Adelle Foss as her backhanded shot gave Husson the 1-0 edge.

- Forester tied the game at the 8:02 mark and gave the Engineers the lead early in the second with a goal off a penalty corner as the game headed into halftime at 2-1 in favor of MIT.

- First-year Lydia Patterson (Houston, Texas) began the third-quarter scoring for the Engineers as she had a pair of goals sandwiched between the fifth goal of the year from junior Liberty Ladd (Falmouth, Maine) to make it 5-1 after three.

- In the fourth, two goals from first-year Eva Oppenheim (Larkspur, Calif.) within a span of less than two minutes put the game out of reach. Forester then completed the hat trick with a goal off a rebound, followed by the team-leading sixth goal of the year for the Ladd and the first goal of the season for junior Erica Radler (Wayne, N.J.) with 1:36 left on the clock.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Oppenheim, Ladd and Patterson each posted two goals, while senior Laura Chen (Califon, N.J.) finished with a pair of assists.

- MIT outshot the Eagles by a 40-2 margin and held a 15-5 advantage in penalty corners.
