- Records: MIT (7-0-1); Tufts (3-3-0)
- Location: Medford, Mass. (Bello Field)
- The Lead: The No.6 MIT women's soccer extended its unbeaten streak to open the 2021 season, as the Engineers shutout No. 11 Tufts, 3-0 on the road on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- MIT got on the board first when senior Sarah Moseson (Morristown, N.J.) came up the field to take the ball away from a Tufts player and send a pass into senior Karenna Groff (Weston, Mass.) who beat her defender and put the ball into the far corner of the net at 19:54.

- The Jumbos put some pressure on the MIT defense throughout the first half, but junior Ava Gillikin (Flemington, N.J.) made three saves to keep the Engineers in the lead.

- At 51:50 the Engineers made it 2-0 when senior Allison Tong (Libertyville, Ill.) lifted the ball into the front of the net where first-year Mia Sedgwick (Wilmette, Ill.) charged in and tipped it past the Jumbos keeper for the score.

- Sophomore Meagan Rowlett (Dana Point, Calif.) sealed the victory for the Engineers as she got by her defender and lifted the ball over the keeper and just inside the crossbar for her fifth goal of the season at 73:02.

- The Jumbos had some opportunities late in the game, but their attempts were turned away by Gillikin and the MIT defense.
