The Lead:Â The No. 15 MIT squash team returned to the courts for the first time in over a month and earned a thrilling 5-4 victory over No. 21 Amherst on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Â Senior
Keith Lamp (Short Hills, N.J.) gave MIT its first win of the match in the ninth position, defeating
Matthew Granovsky 11-4, 6-11, 11-6, 11-9.
- The Engineers got victories in the top two positions as senior
Aman Sanger (New York, N.Y.) defeated
Robinson Armour 11-3, 11-9, 11-9 and graduate student
Joe O'Connor (Madison, N.J.) earned an 11-5, 11-9, 11-6 win in the second position.
- Graduate student
Bill Wu (Eagleville, Pa.) pulled out a four-set victory in the fourth position with an 11-5, 5-11, 11-5, 11-8 win.
- In the sixth position, sophomore
Nikhil Kakarla (Philadelphia, Pa.) took the win with a four-set victory over
Charles Sutherby, 11-8, 7-11, 11-8, 11-8.
- First-year
Saechow Yap (Pepper Pike, Ohio) notched a 3-1 victory in the 10
th-position.
