- The Lead: In a back-and-forth non-conference matchup on Tuesday night, the MIT men's basketball team dropped a 75-69 final to Endicott College at MacDonald Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Endicott took an early lead before the Engineers answered and took a 27-19 advantage with 5:20 left in the first half after a jumper from sophomore
Kade Killeen (Austin, Texas). The lead eventually moved to nine at 32-23 after a Killeen three moments later before a 9-1 Endicott run made it 34-32 in favor of MIT at the break. That run was sparked by a three from
Mark Barrett and capped by a layup by
Jalen Echevarria in the final second.

- The teams went back and forth over the opening six minutes of the second half and it was a three-point play by Killeen with 15:50 left that made it a 43-40 score in favor of the Engineers. The Gulls regained the lead moments later on a layup from
Matt Garry and led by five before a three from sophomore
Spencer Lin (Menlo Park, Calif.) pulled MIT back within two at 50-48.

- An Endicott 7-0 scoring run pushed the lead to nine and the advantage eventually grew to as many as 14 at 66-52 with 5:47 left after a layup by Echevarria. The Engineers chipped away in the final minute with eight points from first-year
Tim Minicozzi (Belmont, Mass.), but it was the Gulls who held off MIT for the 75-69 victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Killeen led the Engineers with a 21-point, 16-rebound performance in 39 minutes, while Lin had 24 points and six assists to go along with 13 points from Minicozzi.

- Eachevarria, who scored his 1,000th career point in the Endicott win, led all scorers with 29 points. Garry was also in double figures with 17 points and Barrett tallied seven points, 12 rebounds, four assists, four steals and three blocks.
