- Score: Tufts University 100, MIT 70

- Records: MIT (2-3); Tufts University (4-0)

- Location: Medford, Mass. (Cousens Gymnasium)

- The Lead: In a non-conference matchup on Tuesday evening, the MIT men's basketball team dropped a 100-70 final to Tufts University at Cousens Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The two teams opened the game going back and forth, including at 11-9 in favor of Tufts just 5:18 into the contest following a pair of free throws from first-year Tim Minicozzi (Belmont, Mass.). Over the next seven minutes though, Tufts put together a 22-5 scoring run and took a commanding 33-14 lead with 7:43 left in the first half.

- MIT cut the lead back down to just eight at 37-29 after a layup from first-year Rome Delgado-Gonzalez (Miami, Fla.) before the hosts took an eventual 48-31 lead into the halftime break.

- The Engineers again cut into the Tufts lead in the second half and with 14:07 remaining, a three-pointer from sophomore Kade Killeen (Austin, Texas) made it a 60-46 game. A three from Tyler Aronson and four straight points by Dylan Thoerner stretched the Tufts advantage out to 21 though as the hosts eventually pulled away for the 100-70 final.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Killeen led MIT with a 24-point effort as he knocked down six three-pointers. Delgado-Gonzalez posted a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double to go along with a team-high five assists, while Minicozzi had 14 points and sophomore Spencer Lin (Menlo Park, Calif.) added 11 points.

- Theo Henry led four Tufts scorers in double figures with 24 points. Khai Champion and Jay Dieterle also added 10 points each, with Champion also finishing with a team-high eight rebounds.
