HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Set 1: The Eagles doubled-up the Engineers early in the set, but a 9-2 MIT run, highlighted by three kills from junior Brett Allen (San Jose, Calif.) put the Engineers in the lead, and they would not look back as Allen sealed the 25-20 win with a kill.

- Set 2: Elmira used a 6-0 run to take an 8-5 lead but MIT made it a one-point game at 18-17 before a 4-1 Elmira run made it 22-18. Back-to-back kills from first-year Grant Oh (Irvine, Calif.) made it 22-20, but the Eagles held on for the 25-21 win.

- Set 3: Allen and senior Bradley Albright (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) combined for four kills to put MIT up 12-9, and the Engineers went on to take the third set 25-16 off an Albright kill.

-  Set 4: A 5-1 MIT run pulled MIT to within one as an Allen kill made the score 14-13. The Eagles held onto the lead and forced an MIT timeout with the score 20-18. With Elmira holding set point, kills from junior Dylan Ryan (Oviedo, Fla.) and Oh tied the match at 24. The teams then went back-and-forth before the Eagles claimed the 28-26 victory to force a decisive fifth set.

- Set 5: Elmira scored the first three points of the set. but MIT responded with three-straight points of its own to tie the set.
