GREENWOOD, Indiana – Braeden Baker of the MIT Men's Volleyball team has been named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American the organization released its Men's At-Large selections.  

Baker was voted to the third team as the Aerospace Engineering major boasts a 4.0 GPA. Baker, an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American, becomes the fourth-student athlete in program history to be named a CSC Academic All-American. Overall, the program has now collected five Academic All-America honors. 

On the court, Baker helped MIT win its first UVC Tournament Championship and first-ever NCAA match as the Engineers advanced to the quarterfinals.  He was honored as the AVCA Division III Player of the Week and was named UVC First Team All-Conference and to the UVC All-Tournament Team. Additionally, he had 15 matches with at least 10 kills, including a career high 28 against NYU, finishing with 250 for the season while hitting .241.  

Off the court, he is the Men's Volleyball representative on the MIT Student Athlete Advisory Committee and is currently interning with SpaceX. He is a Solid Propulsion Member and Liquid Propulsion Structures Lead on the MIT Rocket Team and was also an Undergraduate Researcher at the ASU Robotics and Intelligence Systems Lab and an Undergraduate Researcher at the MIT Lab for Nuclear Science. 
   
The Academic All-America Teams, selected by CSC, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in their sport and in the classroom. Sports included in the men's at-large program are fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, volleyball, water polo, and wrestling.
