The Lead: MIT scored eight unanswered goals during the first quarter, propelling it to a 17-7 non-conference men's lacrosse victory over the University of New England on Saturday afternoon. Graduate student

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Heath Nilsen (Carlsbad, Calif.) opened the scoring after 46 seconds elapsed and then Gebhardt scored twice before setting up graduate student
Eric Pence (Portland, Ore.). Senior
Gavin Vandenberg (Elmhurst, Ill.), Nilsen, junior
Tory Lentine (Flemington, N.J.), and Gebhardt each found the back of the net, resulting in a comfortable 8-0 advantage at the end of the quarter.

- The Nor'easters ended the shutout almost a minute into the second stanza, however, MIT went on to outscore UNE, 5-1 during the quarter. Senior
Liam Miller (Pasadena, Calif.) started the spurt with an unassisted marker with 13:15 on the clock as Gebhardt went on to produce two goals and an assist. Vandenberg and Nilsen both notched one goal and one assist, helping the Engineers enter halftime with a 13-2 advantage.

- MIT had a 3-2 scoring edge in the third quarter while the Nor'easters had a 3-1 margin in the fourth quarter.

- Nilsen totaled three goals, two assists, three groundballs, and two caused turnovers as Miller registered a hat trick to go along with three groundballs. First year
Matthew Sardis (Bernardsville, N.J.) won 15 of his 20 faceoff attempts and collected 10 groundballs as junior
Chris Perrino (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) notched three groundballs and two caused turnovers.

Lukas Drexler-Bruce (Denver, Colo.) made one save during the first half. Junior
David Vapnek (San Diego, Calif.) recorded five saves and two groundballs in the third quarter as classmate
Devin McCabe (New Castle, N.H.) had five saves in the fourth quarter.
