Men’s Lightweight Crew Competes at Lightweight Invitational

THE BASICS:
 
- Event: National Collegiate Lightweight Invitational
 
- Location: Overpeck Park (Leonia, N.J.)
 
- The Lead: The MIT men's lightweight crew team battled cold and windy conditions at the National Collegiate Lightweight Invitational on Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
 
- In the morning, the Varsity 8+ and Second Varsity 8+ were in the mix but they could not maintain their pace during the second half of their respective races. The 1V finished third in 6:45.183, behind Penn and Harvard. The 2V was fourth (6:53.368) as Penn, Georgetown, and Harvard claimed the top three spots. The Third Varsity 8+ placed third in its flight with a time of 7:12.220, behind Harvard and Georgetown.
 
- Each boat bounced back in the afternoon and had strong performances during the second 1,000 meters of their races. The 1V was third (6:28.311) as it raced against Princeton and Mercyhurst. In MIT's two-boat 2V flight, Princeton claimed the victory as the Engineers logged a time of 6:48.341. The 3V was third in 7:10.776, behind Princeton and Penn.
