HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Amherst took an early 1-0 lead in the first as Chris Murphy singled to right center to drive in Luke Padian. First-year Malachi Soqui (Castaic, Calif.) drove in sophomore Michael Finch (Brentwood, Tenn.) to tie the game, along with a run by junior Graham Cartwright (La Jolla, Calif.) and a two-out solo homer from senior Cory O'Shea (Glen Allen, Va.). The homer was O'Shea's third in the last three days.

- The Mammoths regained the lead at 4-3 in the bottom of the inning as Jack Dove came home for an unearned run and Ryan McIntyre singled to center to drive in a pair. The back and forth game continued in the fifth as MIT went back in front with a three-run inning of its own. Junior Jake Sonandres (Torrance, Calif.) scored on a wild pitch, while Soqui and Cartwright drove in runs to go back in front at 6-4.

- Amherst and McIntyre went back in front at 7-6 on his three-run homer to left in the fifth, followed by a five-run sixth to stake to a 12-6 lead. MIT got back within 12-10 with four runs in the eighth, followed by two for Amherst in the bottom of the inning for the 14-10 final.
