The Lead: The MIT men's lightweight crew team finished third in each of its events against the heavyweight squads from Williams College and Tufts University on Saturday. Racing on Onota Lake in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, there was a light cross to cross-headwind which built slightly throughout the morning.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Competing against the top two heavyweight Varsity 8+ boats in Division III, No. 1 Williams won in 6:00.07, followed by No. 2 Tufts (6:05.07), and MIT (6:05.40). The Engineers' Varsity 8+ currently ranks 11
th in the Division I poll.
- The Ephs picked up their second win as their 2V8+ finished in 6:14.00, followed by the Jumbos (6:21.84), and MIT (6:24.39).
- Williams completed the sweep with a comfortable win in the 3V8+ as it logged a time of 6:32.05. Tufts was the runner-up (6:44.84) while the Engineers were third (6:53.65).
