- The Lead: The MIT men's tennis team dropped a tough 5-4 decision on the road to Coast Guard in a mid-week NEWMAC contest on Wednesday afternoon. This is just the fifth time the Engineers have lost to the Bears.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Coast Guard took two of the three singles matches with first-year
Wayne Nelms (Baltimore, Md.) and sophomore
Sundeep Chakladar (Redondo Beach, Calif.) winning in three doubles by a score of 8-7 for MIT.
- The Bears won in courts two and three to take a 4-1 lead before junior
Daniel Papacica (Carmel, Calif.) grabbed a 6-4, 6-2 win in four singles to make it a 4-2 match, however, Coast Guard took the win in one-singles to seal the match.
- The Engineers also got wins in five and six singles with first-year
Ryan Xiao (Cary, N.C.) winning 6-3, 6-3, and sophomore
Daniel Sharygin (Newburgh, Ind.) taking a 2-6, 7-6, 11-9 win.

- MIT is right back on the courts for another road contest tomorrow, April 7 as the engineers will head to Brandeis to take on the Judges for a 3:00 p.m. contest
