Men's Tennis Drops 4-3 Road Decision to Bates

LEWISTON, Mass. - In their season finale, the No. 38 MIT Men's Tennis team looked to rally in singles play, but the Engineers fell just short, dropping a 4-3 match on the road to Bates on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Bates won all three doubles in straight sets to take the first point.
Theo Sardian then got the Bobcats their first singles win with a 6-0, 6-3 over Grant Gallagher in No. 3 singles and James Sacco earned a straight-set win over Cole Armstrong in six singles.
MIT got three hard-fought three set tie-break wins in singles as the Engineers looked to rally. Hunter Liao dropped the first set 1-6 to Phillppe in No. 1 singles, but responded to take the next two sets 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).
In No. 2 singles. Tyler Li dropped the first set to Diop, 2-6 then took the following two sets, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3). Rushil Patel fell to Rocco Regnier in the first set, 2-6 in No. 4 but came back to win the next two, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).
Henry Feldman took set one in No. 5 singles against Nicolas Ozer, but Ozer rallied to win the next two.
