Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Four Different Goal Scorers Lead No. 6 MIT Past Lesley, 4-0

THE BASICS:

- Score: MIT - 4, Lesley - 0

- Records: No. 6 MIT (3-0-1), Lesley (1-2)

- Location: Cambridge, Mass. (Roberts Field)

- The Lead: Four different goal scorers helped lead a balanced attack as the sixth-ranked MIT women's soccer team earned a 4-0 win over visiting Lesley University on Thursday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Graduate student Karenna Groff (Weston, Mass.) got the scoring started for the Engineers as she broke through the Lynx defense and sent a shot into the far corner for her fourth goal of the season.

- After Lesley committed a foul in the box, senior Reese Alley (Columbus, N.C.) stepped up for the penalty kick and converted for her first collegiate goal at 29:23 to give the Engineers a 2-0 advantage.

- The Lynx came out quick in the second half looking for a score, but both their early half changes were saved by senior Ava Gillikin (Flemington, NJ).

- Sophomore Lauren Davis (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) recorded her first collegiate goal at 78:28 as she headed in the corner kick from first-year Leena Mehendale (Dallas, TX) to make it a 3-0 lead.

- First-year Sean Luk (Bel Air, Md.) continued the trend of Engineers recording their first goal as she took a pass from classmate Alice Vranka (Bronxville, NY) and tapped it into the back of the net with 11 seconds remaining in the game.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- MIT outshot Lesley 19-6 and held a 4-0 edge in corner kicks.

- Senior Lauren Castle (Ridgefield, Conn.) improved to 3-0-1 with one save in 45 minutes of play. Gillikin played the final 45 minutes and made three saves in the contest.
