- Records: MIT (3-12, 1-5 NEWMAC); Emerson College (10-7, 5-1 NEWMAC)

- Location: Boston, Mass. (Brown & Plofker Gym)

- The Lead: In a NEWMAC matchup on Saturday afternoon, the MIT men's basketball dropped an 89-58 road final to Emerson College at Brown & Plofker Gym. The game was the first of two meetings between the two squads this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- After the two teams traded the lead over the opening minutes of the first, the Lions pushed the advantage out to 12 points at 17-5 following a three-point play by Trevor Arico. An MIT three-pointer from sophomore Spencer Lin (Menlo Park, Calif.) and a three-point play by first-year Rome Delgado-Gonzalez (Miami, Fla.) cut the lead down to five at 23-18 at the 10:48 mark.

- A three from MIT junior Micah Boone (Pike Road, Ala.) tied the game for the first time at 34-34 with just 1:43 left before halftime, but it was the Lions that closed the half on a 5-0 run for the 39-34 edge at the break.

- The Lions opened the second half on a 16-4 scoring spurt to stretch the lead to 55-38 before a layup from MIT first-year Parker Spann (Omaha, Neb.) stopped the run. Delgado-Gonzalez scored on a jumper for the Engineers with 11:24 left in the game for the 60-46 margin before Emerson clamped down on defense over the remainder of the half though as the Lions picked up the 89-58 victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Delgado-Gonzalez led the Engineers with 17 points, while Lin and first-year Landon Dolvin (Westfield, Ind.) each added 11 points. For the Lions, Jarred Houston paced four Lions in double figures with a 23-point, 11-rebound, seven-block performance.
