- The Lead: On Saturday afternoon at Rockwell Cage, the MIT men's basketball team dropped an 84-64 NEWMAC final to visiting Clark University. The Cougars shot 64 percent from three in the game, while the Engineers had three players finish in double figures.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Cougars jumped out to an early double-digit advantage at 15-5 following a three-pointer from
Isaiah Taylor. A layup from freshman
Rome Delgado-Gonzalez (Miami, Fla.) made it a single-digit game again with 9:20 remaining in the half before Clark closed the opening period strong for the 39-22 halftime lead.

- The visitors led by as many as 26 at 56-30 at the 12:53 mark after a three from Reid Neumann before the Engineers went on a run to cut into the lead. MIT put together a 14-3 scoring spurt over a span of 4:56, pulling to within 15 at 59-44 after a layup from first-year
Tim Minicozzi (Belmont, Mass.).

- Clark maintained control though as the teams played evenly throughout the remainder of the game as the Cougars picked up the 84-64 victory to sweep the regular-season series between the two teams.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Delgado-Gonzalez led MIT with 21 points, seven rebounds and three steals for his seventh game of the season of 20 points or more. Minicozzi added 20 points on 8-for-16 shooting, along with 10 points off the bench from junior
Luke Wagner (Austin, Texas).

- Clark had five players in double figures, led by a 15-point, 11-rebound double-double from
Kekoa McArdle. Taylor ended the game with 15 points, along with 13 points each from Taylor and Neumann, 12 points from
Ian Calabrese and 11 points from
Mikey O'Brien.

- MIT outscored the Cougars by a 26-24 margin in the paint and 11-3 in second chance points. The Cougars held a 36-28 rebounding advantage, including 31-21 on the defensive glass. MIT also forced 16 Clark turnovers while registering 16 assists on 24 made field goals.

- Clark was also outstanding from three-point land, connecting on 16-of-25 attempts that included shooting 70 percent from deep in the first half.
