Six First Half Goals Propels No. 9 MIT to 6-1 Victory Over Lesley

Rowlett and English Scored Two Goals Each in the Match

THE BASICS:
 
- Score: MIT - 6, Lesley - 1
 
- Records: No. 9 MIT (13-1-1), Lesley (10-5)
 
- Location: Lexington, Mass. (Minuteman Tech)
 
- The Lead: The No. 9 MIT women's soccer team tied a season-high with six goals in a decisive 6-1 victory over Lesley on Monday night. Four different Engineers scored in the match as MIT extended its winning streak to eight.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Senior Meagan Rowlett (Dana Point, Calif.) opened the scoring for MIT as she scored the first two goals of the night. Her first goal came off a pass from sophomore Sean Luk (Bel Air, Md.) at 8:39, and she followed that with an unassisted score at 12:16.
 
- Junior Ashley English (Sheboygan, Wis.) added two goals to put MIT up by four. Rowlett set her up for the score at 13:23, and English found the back of the net a few minutes later at 16:57.
 
- Senior Lexi Spinetta (Austin, Texas) and first year Katherine Ruan (Naperville, Ill.) scored at 25:15 and 37:51 respectively, to wrap up the first half scoring for MIT.
 
- Lesley broke through with a goal as Zoe Curtaz set up Kylie Chagnon for the goal at 63:07.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Rowlett finished with five points in the match and now leads the team in goals (8) and points (22). She also leads the NEWMAC in both categories.
 
- English now has five goals and 12 points on the year while Ruan also tallied her fifth.
 
- Spinetta scored her second goal and Luk is tied with Rowlett for the team lead with six assists.
 
- Senior Morgan Everett (Danville, Pa.) played the first 45 minutes and made three saves to record her 11th victory. Sophomore Ava Muffoletto (Kings Park, N.Y.) played the final 45 minutes in goal for MIT.
 
- Madison Reed made seven saves for the Lynx.
 
- MIT outshot Lesley 24-6 and placed 13 shots on goal to Lesley's four. The Lynx held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.

- MIT returns to the pitch on Wednesday, October 18th for a key NEWMAC contest as the Engineers will remain on the road for a 3:00 p.m. contest against Babson.
