- The Lead: On a rainy Roberts Field, the. No. 9 MIT women's soccer team honored its senior class in a pre-game ceremony and then went on to blank NEWMAC rival WPI, 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Engineers honored the senior class of: 
Morgan Everett (Danville, Pa.), 
Julia Chen (San Diego, Calif.), 
Meagan Rowlett (Dana Point, Calif.), 
Lexi Spinetta (Austin, Texas), Victoria Ganeles (Armonk, N.Y.), Julia Howarth (Barrington, R.I.), and 
Megan Eberts (Columbus, Ohio).
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- MIT jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead at 8:23 when junior 
Natalie Barnouw's (Los Angeles, Calif.) corner kick found the head of junior 
Lauren Davis (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) who sent the ball over to Spinetta for the header goal.
 
- Junior 
Mia Sedgwick (Wilmette, Ill.) found first-year 
Arianna Doss (Houston, Texas) in front of the goal where Doss got past the defense and put a shot off the post that trickled into the back of the net at 43:53.
 
- Rowlett ran down the left side of the field and rifled a shot into the far corner at 55:45. A few minutes later,  Rowlett set up Barnouw for the fourth Engineer goal of the day at 58:08 as Barnouw put the pass into the corner of the goal.
 
- The Engineers held possession for most of the remainder of the match to secure the 4-0 victory.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Rowlett increased her team lead in goals (9) and points (25). She has 90 points in her career to rank ninth all-time, and her 37 career goals are tied for seventh.
 
- Barnouw now has eight goals and four assists for 20 points.
 
- Spinetta and Doss each tallied their third goals of the season.
 
- Everett made four saves for her sixth shutout as she improved to 12-2-1.
 
- MIT held the advantage in shots (12-5), shots on goal (5-4), and corner kicks (11-3).
 
UP NEXT:
- The Engineers return to action tomorrow, Sunday, October 22nd for a road non-conference match against Colby. The match is scheduled for a noon start.
