The Lead: The MIT men's lightweight crew team closed out the fall season with a pair of solid performances at the Head of the Charles this past weekend. On Saturday, the Club 8+ finished 13
th while the Lightweight 8+ captured ninth place on Sunday.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Racing with a nice tailwind throughout the course, the Club 8+, which was comprised of first years, sophomores, and former novices, logged a time of 15:06.892 to rank 27
th out of 35 entries.
- Despite battling tough conditions and a more competitive Lightweight 8+ field than last year, the Engineers recorded a time of 15:17.380 to finish ninth out of 14 boats. MIT had a strong start as it found itself with a fifth-place time just beyond the midway point of the race, however, it could not maintain its pace down the stretch.
