HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Set 1: MIT quickly established a 5-1 lead and then built a comfortable cushion en route to a 25-14 win.

- Set 2: The first half of the set featured seven ties and four lead changes. Trailing 13-11, a kill by junior Lauren Keller (Albuquerque, N.M.) kicked off a four-point burst that put the Engineers ahead for good. Clark stayed close down the stretch as back-to-back kills brought it within 23-22. MIT thwarted the comeback attempt courtesy of two kills by senior Consecrata Rozario (Cary, N.C.).

- Set 3: The Cougars inched out to a 6-4 lead, but a serving error by the hosts ignited a 14-3 run that was capped with an ace by sophomore Ali Gibbs (Chagrin Falls, Ohio). An exchange of points ensued until an ace by junior Ottavia Personeni (Bethesda, Md.) increased the Engineers' advantage to 22-12. Clark won three of the next four points, however, a pair of errors gave MIT a 25-15 victory.
