Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Topples Clark, 6-0, in NEWMAC Quarterfinals

THE BASICS:

- Score: MIT - 6, Clark - 0

- Records: No. 14 MIT (17-3-1), Clark (8-7-4)

- Location: Cambridge, Mass. (Roberts Field)

- The Lead: The No. 14 MIT women's soccer team, and top-seed in the tournament, advanced to the NEWMAC Semifinals with a decisive 6-0 win over Clark on Tuesday night on Roberts Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Junior Ashley English (Sheboygan, Wis.) sent a pass over to junior Mia Sedgwick (Wilmette, Ill.) who rifled a shot into the back left corner for her first goal of the year at 12:28.

- Senior Meagan Rowlett (Dana Point, Calif.) scored the next two goals to give MIT a 3-0 lead. Her first goal of the half came off a pass from classmate Megan Eberts (Columbus, Ohio) at 22:24, and her second was a beautiful shot into the back left corner off a Katherine Ruan (First Year/Naperville, Ill.) pass.

- English found the back of the net at 50:47 as she took a pass up the middle from junior Natalie Barnouw (Los Angeles, Calif.) and put the ball into the right corner of the goal.

- Sedgwick notched her second goal of the game at 52:22 as she collected the ball and placed the ball into the left corner of the goal to give MIT a 5-0 lead.

- Sophomore Sean Luk (Bel Air, Md.) scored the final goal of the night for the Engineers at 87:22 when she collected a pass from first-year Macy Lehrer (Danville, Calif.) in the center of the box and put the ball into the back left corner of the net.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Rowlett now has 13 goals for 33 points on the season. She is two points shy of tallying 100 in her career.

- English has seven goals and five assists this season, while Barnouw recorded her fifth assist and 23rd point, and Luk collected her second goal.

- Senior Morgan Everett (Danville, Pa.) earned her 15th win and ninth shutout with three saves in the match.  

- MIT held a convincing advantage in shots (26-4) and shots on goal (13-3).

- The Engineers will host Springfield on Thursday, November 2 at 7 p.m. on Roberts Field.
