HOW IT HAPPENED:
- MIT took a 1-0 lead on an own goal off a corner from junior
Natalie Barnouw (Los Angeles, Calif.) at 8:11. Barnouw then gave the Engineers a 2-0 lead on her 10th goal of the season at 17:22 when she got the rebound off a shot from senior
Meagan Rowlett (Dana Point, Calif.) and put it past a diving
Taryn Ryan.
- A scrum around midfield saw sophomore
Alice Vranka (Bronxville, N.Y.) come out with the ball and send a pass to classmate
Macy Lehrer (Danville, Calif.) who put the ball in the back left corner at 42:20.
- Off a shot off the crossbar, senior
Julia Chen (San Diego, Calif.) was able to head the ball into the goal at 50:32. Eight minutes later junior
Mia Sedgwick (Wilmette, Ill.) took a Rowlett pass and skirted the ball into the corner of the goal to put MIT up 5-0.
- The Pride got on the board at 61:51 when
Kaitlyn Suller took a
Meredith Healy pass and got the ball into the back of the net.
- Sophomore
Sean Luk (Bel Air, Md.) got past the Springfield defense and placed a shot from outside the box into the goal for her third goal of the season at 74:56 to put the Engineers up 6-1.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Barnow joins Rowlett in double-digit goals as she has 10 on the season while Rowlett has 13. The pair are the first teammates since Rowlett and
Karenna Groff in 2021 to score at least 10 goals in a season.
- With her two assists, Rowlett recorded 100 points in her career, becoming just the sixth player in program history to achieve the milestone.
- Sedgwick, Chen, and Luk recorded their third goals of the season.
- Senior
Morgan Everett (Danville, Pa.) made four saves in goal for her 16th win of the season while Ryan turned away 10 Engineer shots.
- MIT held a 21-11 advantage in shots and a 16-5 advantage in shots on goal. The Engineers also earned seven corners to the Pride's two.
