Men's Soccer Earns 2-1 Win Over Brandeis in Non-Conference Action

THE BASICS:

- Score: MIT - 2, Brandeis - 1

- Records: MIT (5-4-1), Brandeis (2-5-3)

- Location: Cambridge, MA (Roberts Field)

- The Lead: The MIT men's soccer team held off the visiting Brandeis Judges in a physical non-conference soccer match on Wednesday night on Roberts Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Senior Aidan Hallinan (Carlsbad, Calif.) gave the Engineers an early lead when he took a long pass from graduate student John Flynn (Broadlands, Va.) and put the ball into the corner of the goal at 7:19.

- The Judges had many scoring chances in the half. First year Garrett Dyson (South Orange, N.J.) made two excellent diving tackles to thwart scoring chances, and in goal first year Hernando Ardila (Miramar, Fla.) turned away three shots.

- Brandeis got even at 51:37 when Rainer Osselmann-Chai sent in a long free kick that found the back of the net.

- MIT was awarded a penalty kick that Quintin Wrabley turned away, but graduate student Hendrik Mayer (Montville, N.J.) got his rebound off the save and put the ball in the back of the net to give the Engineers the lead at 62:09.

- Osselmann-Chai had two chances later in the half to tie the match but Ardilla denied both to help secure the 2-1 win for MIT.
