- The Lead: On a rainy Saturday in Cambridge, the MIT football team dropped a 38-10 home final to visiting Springfield College in NEWMAC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The two teams traded first-quarter scores as
Arsen Shtefan scored up the middle from four yards out for the Pride for the 7-0 edge with 5:48 left in the period. MIT got on the board in the final minute of the opening quarter when junior
Nico Bulhof (Bryan, Texas) converted a 34-yard field goal to pull the Engineers within 7-3.

- In the second, Springfield quarterback
Jacob Silvester scored on a nine-yard TD run off the left side to cap an 11-play, 65-yard drive.
Christian Hutra booted a 51-yard field goal as time expired in the first half and it was the Pride heading to the locker room up 17-3.

Blane Hart added to the Springfield lead on a three-yard TD midway through the third quarter before MIT found the end zone to pull within 24-10. On the Engineer touchdown, sophomore
Chase Harmon (West Linn, Ore.) found first-year
Keegan Doody (Eastchester, N.Y.) for an over-the-shoulder catch in the left side of the end zone for his first TD catch of the season.

- Springfield sealed the game in the fourth as
Joseph Cannizzaro scored up the middle from 20 yards out, along with a 54-yard scoring run up the far sideline by Silvester to account for the 38-10 margin.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Harmon completed 15 passes for 145 yards and one touchdown as first-year
Michael Dennison (Beaufort, S.C.) led the way with three catches for 43 yards. On the ground, senior
Brady Klein (Washington, Ill.) finished with 74 yards on 17 rushing attempts.

- Defensively, senior
Stan Lacksen (Watkinsville, Ga.) led three Engineers in double figures in tackles as he piled up a season-high 15 tackles and 1.5 sacks. Junior
Jack Grier (Cornelius, N.C.) picked up the start in the game and posted 12 tackles, one sack and a forced fumble, along with 12 tackles by sophomore
Chase Williams (Missoula, Mont.).

- For the Pride, Silvester led the offense with 134 yards rushing and two touchdowns, while
Joe Maurer and
Tyler Pohlman led the defense with eight tackles each.
