No. 4 Keene St. Defeats Men's Basketball, 119-81

THE BASICS:
 
- Score: No. 4 Keene St. - 119, MIT - 81
 
- Records: MIT (1-5), Keene St. (4-1)
 
- Location: Cambridge, Mass. (Rockwell Cage)
 
- The Lead: The MIT men's basketball team dropped a 119-81 home contest to No. 4 Keene State College on Saturday afternoon at Rockwell Cage. The Engineers had six players score in double figures, led by 15 points from first-year Merlin Gogolin (New York, N.Y.).
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Keene State opened the game on a 10-0 run before a three from first-year Isaac Dobie (Kitty Hawk, N.C.) stopped the Owls' run. Gogolin converted two free throws to make it a 17-5 contest, but the Owls used a 12-2 run to go up 27-7.
 
- The Owls continued to build their lead, eventually taking a 63-26 lead with 1:30 left in the first half, but the Engineers ended the half on an 8-5 run to make it a 68-34 game after 20 minutes of play.  
 
- First-year Will Bland (Virginia Beach, Va.) opened the second with a layup to make it a 68-36 game, but a 10-5 run for the visitors put them up 78-41 at the 16:01 mark. A three from Dobie followed by a layup from junior Spencer Lin (Menlo Park, Calif.) made it an 81-48 Keene St. lead at 14:28, and Bland converted on a layup with 13:35 to make it an 83-50 game.
 
- The visitors held the Engineers at bay for the rest of the game and took the 119-81 win.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Gogolin also grabbed a team-high six rebounds and was the leading scorer for the Engineers.
 
- Bland and Dobie each contributed 13 points, while Lin and first-year Mike Ewing (Mendham, N.J.) added 12, and first-year Michael Zhang (Jacksonville, Fla.) scored 10.
 
- Jeff Hunter led the Owls with 15 points and grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists. Tahmeen Dupree led all players with 13 rebounds in the contest.
 
- MIT shot 72.2% (13-18) from the free throw line and had 17 fast break points.

- The Engineers return to the court on Tuesday, November 28th for a 7:00 p.m. road contest against Salem State University.
