Wei Sets MIT School Record, Lands Top Long Jump in the Nation at University of Arkansas

THE BASICS:

- Location: Randal Tyson Track Center (Fayetteville, Ark.)

- The Lead: On Friday afternoon at the Tyson Invitational at the University of Arkansas, MIT senior Kenneth Wei (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) posted the top long jump mark in the country and broke his own school record as he finished third overall in the event that featured a number of Division I schools.

HOW IT HAPPENED AT THE TYSON INVITATiONAL:

- Wei qualified for the long jump finals with a leap of 24 feet, one inch on his third attempt and sat in sixth place heading into his final attempt. On that jump, he posted a mark of 24 feet, 5.75 inches to break his own school record by 0.75 inches and post the top mark nationally by a margin of 2.25 inches.

- Wei's previous school record came in the 2022 NCAA Indoor National Championship, where he won his first of two NCAA long jump national titles as he swept the indoor and outdoor events.
