HOW IT HAPPENED:

- A jumper by sophomore
Angie Choi (Cypress, Calif.) gave MIT an 11-10 edge at the 4:11 mark. On its next possession, Babson drained a three-pointer which kicked off a string of seven straight points. Two free throws by graduate student
Paula Pieper (Greenville, S.C.) brought the Engineers within 17-13 with 1:16 left in the quarter, but the Beavers countered with a three-point play to create some breathing room.

- After a back-and-forth start to the second stanza, two Choi free throws and a jumper by Pieper narrowed the gap to 24-19 with 8:08 on the clock. Babson replied with a layup, sparking a 22-5 run which resulted in a 46-24 halftime advantage.

Olivia Joseph (Newtown Square, Pa.) 1:34 into the third quarter led to 10 unanswered points that narrowed the gap to 48-34 with 6:10 on the clock. The Beavers responded with an 18-6 run to close out the quarter.

- Despite the deficit MIT continued to attack as a jumper by first year
Kaya Weiser (Villanova, Pa.) brought the Engineers within 13 points (68-55) with 4:44 left to play. This was as close as it would get as Babson outscored the Engineers, 16-5, down the stretch.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Pieper finished with 13 points and five rebounds while Choi totaled 11 points, two assists, and two steals. Sophomore
Kamsi Nwogu (Algonquin, Ill.) registered eight rebounds, one block, and one steal as sophomore
Elise Harvey (Wayland, Mass.) grabbed seven rebounds.

- The Engineers led the way in bench scoring (16-8) but the Beavers had the upper hand in rebounds (44-40), points off turnovers (16-15), second-chance points (10-4), and points in the paint (42-12).

- MIT shot 30 percent (21-of-70) from the floor, 27.3 percent (3-of-11) from three-point range, and 75 percent (15-of-20) from the free throw line.

- Babson shot 51.4 percent (37-of-72) from the floor, 33.3 percent (5-of-15) from behind the arc, and 100 percent (5-of-5) at the charity stripe.
