The Lead: In the opening round of the College Squash Association (CSA) Team Championships, the No. 17 MIT squash team, competing as the top-seed in the Summers Cup, defeated No. 24 Hamilton, 7-2 on Friday night to advance to tomorrow's semifinals.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
-Â The Engineers raced out to a quick 3-0 lead with a 3-0 win from junior
Collin Wen (Short Hills, N.J.) in the third ladder followed by 3-1 victories from senior
Matt McManus (Philadelphia, Pa.) in the sixth slot and sophomore
Saechow Yap (Pepper Pike, Ohio) in the ninth ladder.
- Senior
Eli Kramer (Brooklyn, N.Y.) earned a sweep in the top spot to give MIT a 4-0 lead and juniors
Nikhil Kakarla (Philadelphia, Pa.) and
Yos Wagenmans (Seattle, Wash.) also took 3-0 sweeps.
- A 3-1 win in the fourth slot by first-year
Bobby Albani (Newtown Square, Pa.) sealed the victory for the Engineers and sent them into semifinals of the Summers Cup.
