- The Lead: The No. 1 ranked MIT men's track and field team claimed the program's 20th New England Division III Indoor Championship with a dominant performance on Friday and Saturday at The TRACK at New Balance. Overall, the Engineers claimed eight New England D3 individual titles and the team finished with a total of 159 points while winning its fourth straight title.

HOW IT HAPPENED ON FRIDAY:

- In the long jump, senior
Kenneth Wei (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) captured the New England D3 title with a leap of 24 feet, three inches. He was followed in second by first-year
Nathan Shapiro (Glenview, Ill.), who placed second with a distance of 23 feet, 7.5 inches.

- Sophomore
Sam Engebretson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) placed third in the weight throw as he posted a throw of 57 feet, six inches on his fifth attempt.

-In the 60-meter hurdle prelims, first-year
Enoch Ellis (Garland, Texas) advanced to the final out of the first heat as he took that section with a time of 8.14 seconds. Wei earned the automatic spot in the finals in heat three with a winning time of 8.17 seconds, followed by sophomore
Walter Truitt (Houston, Texas) taking the fourth and final heat in a time of 8.21 seconds.

- In the 60-meter prelims, senior
Jeremiah Budiman (Plano, Texas) automatically advanced out of heat one with a winning time of 6.95 seconds. First-year
Patrick Haertel (Cumming, Ga.) automatically qualified with a victory in the fifth heat in 6.97 seconds, along with first-year N
olan Clement (Fullerton, Calif.) advancing on time as he crossed at 6.96 seconds.

- In the 5,000, senior
Vedang Lad (Plainsboro, N.J.) finished in fourth with a time of 14:28.58 in heat two. Senior
Lowell Hensgen (Raleigh, N.C.) scored as well in sixth place as he crossed in 14:35.07.

HOW IT HAPPENED ON SATURDAY:

- In the first race for the Engineers on Saturday, Wei took the 60-meter hurdle final in 8.05 seconds and is now second in the nation in the event. Truitt finished second in 8.14 seconds to rank No. 11 in the country as he has now PR'd in every 60-meter hurdle race in his MIT career. Ellis finished in third place as he ran a time of 8.27 seconds.

- Next up in the 60 meters, Haertel took the D3 New England title as he won the final at 6.94 seconds and set the MIT rookie record. Budiman crossed in third at 6.95 seconds and Clement placed fifth at 7.01 seconds.

- In the 800, first-year
Charlie Glass (Austin, Texas) set the meet record and is ranked 11th in the country as he won the event at 1:52.35. Sophomore
Ziyad Hassan (Ashburn, Va.) finished second in 1:53.03 and he was followed by sophomore
Simon Opsahl (Redlands, Calif.) at 1:53.71.

- Engebretson claimed the New England D3 crown in the shot put on Saturday with a throw of 53 feet, 9.75 inches as he is now No. 10 nationally. First-year S
ean Huckleberry (San Francisco, Calif.) won the triple jump at 46 feet, 6.25 inches, while first-year
Jackson Bliey (Wilmington, Del.) tied his season-best in the high jump at six feet, 8.75 inches and continues to be ranked eighth in the country.

- In the mile, graduate student
Ryan Wilson (Redwood City, Calif.) won the event in 4:04.80 as he was followed in second by junior
Henry Hardart (Annapolis, Md.), who is ranked 17th in the country in a time of 4:06.87. Senior
Sam Acquaviva (Newburyport, Mass.) finished fifth in his heat and ran a time of 4:10.78.

Reed Foster (Palo Alto, Calif.), sophomore
Pablo Arroyo (Richardson, Texas), sophomore
Andres Arroyo (Richardson, Texas) and graduate student
Ellery Rajagopal (Harrison, N.Y.) was second as they crossed at 7:49.12.

Reece Shuttleworth (Arlington, Va.) was eighth in the 1,000 at 2:30.72.
