- The Lead: The MIT softball team put up 13 hits and six runs in a game one win over Colby but dropped game two, 10-1 to the Mules on Saturday afternoon on the road in Waterville, Maine.

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. GAME ONE:

- Senior
Haley Samuelsen (Houston, Texas) gave MIT a 2-0 lead with a double in the second. Later in the frame, first-year
Ava Ladd (Austin, Texas) stole home to give the Engineers a 3-0 advantage.

- Sophomore
Mikayla Cable (Valrico, Fla.) came around to score the fourth MIT run of the game in the fifth, and senior
Jordan Sell (Schwenksville, Pa.) doubled home two more runs to put the visitors up six.

- Colby got on the board in the fifth taking advantage of an MIT error, and with the bases loaded, graduate student
Deb Torres (Portage, Mich.) came in and got the final two outs to end the Colby rally.
Â
- A two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh cut the MIT lead in half but Torres retired the final two batters to seal the Engineer win.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

- First-year
Caroline Langmeyer (Upper Arlington, Ohio) moved to 2-0 as she pitched 4.1 innings allowing three runs (one earned) with three hits, three walks, and five strikeouts. Torres pitched the final 2.2 innings allowing two runs on one hit with three walks and a strikeout.

- Cable went 3-4 in the game as five different Engineers recorded at least two hits.

- Samuelson and Sell led the team with two runs batted in each.

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. GAME TWO:
Â
- The Mules jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after the first two innings of play.
Â
- MIT got a run in the third on a single from Samuelson but the home team put up three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a seven-run lead. They added two more in the sixth record the 10-1 win.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

- Cable led the way with two hits in game two for MIT.
