- The Lead: The MIT men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 road contest to the top team in the nation as the Engineers fell to Stevens on the road on Thursday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Set 1: After falling behind 2-0 seniors
Nick Gustafson (San Diego, Calif.) and
Troy Oliveira (San Diego, Calif.) scored the following three points to give MIT the lead. The Ducks then went on a 4-0 run to take a 6-3 lead but MIT responded with a 3-0 run to tie the set. A kill from Gustafson got MIT to one point, but Stevens used a 6-0 run to take a 19-12 lead and went on to win set one, 25-14.

Set 2: The Ducks jumped out to a 9-4 lead and used a 6-0 run to go up 15-4. Oliveira stopped the run with a kill and jump-started a 9-3 Engineer run to make the score 18-14, but Stevens did not let MIT get any closer as the home team took set one, 25-15.

Set 3: MIT took a quick 3-0 lead before Stevens rattled off 12 of the 13 points. A kill from first-year
Michael Rini (Huntington Beach, Calif.) and a Gustafson ace made it a 20-13 contest, but Stevens scored the next five to win the set and the match.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Gustafson led the way for MIT with 15 kills. Oliveira added five kills and three digs.

Max Turner (Chandler, Ariz.) led the Engineers with 16 assists.

- For the Ducks, Louden Moran led the team with 22 assists and Koby Sherman put up a team-high six kills.
