- The Lead: In a non-conference matchup on Wednesday afternoon, the MIT baseball team dropped a 13-3 road final at No. 6 Endicott College. The game is part of a home-and-home series this season between the two squads.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- In the first, the Engineers struck for a pair of runs with two outs as senior
Graham Cartwright (La Jolla, Calif.) launched a deep two-run homer to left center to score senior
Kyle Sonandres (Torrance, Calif.) for the 2-0 edge. The home run is his team-leading sixth of the year as he is tied for second in the NEWMAC in that category.

- The Gulls used single runs in both the bottom of the first and second innings to tie the game at 2-2 and the score remained that way into the bottom of the fourth. Endicott moved in front for the first time with two runs in the frame with
Nicolas Notarangelo scoring on an RBI double by
Kyle Grabowski, along with a bases-loaded walk.

- With the hosts up 8-2 in the top of the seventh, MIT got on the board for the third time as first-year
Lawrence Tang (Hopkinton, Mass.) came around on a two-out RBI single to left field by junior
Teddy Schoenfeld (Boulder, Colo.). Endicott scored five runs on two hits in the seventh, en route to 13-3 final margin.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Schoenfeld led MIT with a 3-for-4 day in the leadoff spot.
Kyle Sonandres joined him with multiple hits as he finished 2-for-4 with the Gulls outhitting the Engineers by a slim 11-9 margin.
Thomas Barbieri was the offensive leader the Endicott as he finished the game 3-for-4 with three runs scored two runs driven in. Grabowski posted a game-high four runs batted in as he also scored once.

- Junior
Saketh Gabbita (Ashburn, Va.) takes the loss in relief for the Engineers as now sits at 0-2 after two innings of two-run relief.
Nicholas Cannata was the winning pitcher for the Gulls, going seven innings with three runs allowed, no walks and 11 strikeouts to improve to 1-0.
