- The Engineers loaded the bases in the top of the first and plated two runs on a walk of sophomore Dana Bell (Bensalem, Pa.) and a single from junior Rylie Spiegel (Rumson, N.J.).

- Two more runs in the second gave MIT a 4-0 advantage. First year Ava Ladd (Austin, Texas) scored on sophomore Kennedy Adkison's (San Jose, Calif.) fielder's choice, and Adkison later scored on a double from sophomore Mikayla Cable (Valrico, Fla.).

- Four runs were more than enough for first year Caroline Langmeyer (Upper Arlington, Ohio) who retired Wellesley in order in innings three-five. She later struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh to secure the shutout victory for the Engineers.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

- Langmeyer went the distance scattering just three hits with one walk and six Ks to move to 7-0 on the year.

- Bivin took home on a throwing error by the Wellesley catcher for the third run of the day for the visitors in the sixth.

- Wellesley brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh with no outs, but Langmeyer came in and retired the next three batters to secure the 3-0 win.
