The Lead: The MIT sailing team had an excellent weekend on the water as the Engineers captured the NEISA Women's Championship and posted top-five finishes in the team's other three regattas as the team wrapped up regular season competition.
NEISA WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP | Providence, RI | 1st of 16
- The Engineers built a strong lead after day one and were able to hold off a second-day push from Harvard and capture the championship to earn the automatic bid to the ICSA Women's National Championship.
- MIT's 'A' division boat was led by graduate student
Dana Haig (Beach Haven, N.J.) and senior
Grace Mao (Overland Park, Kan.) and totaled 89 points for a fifth-place finish.
- Sophomore
Lucy Brock (Austin, Texas), sophomore
Brooke Schmelz (Monmouth Beach, N.J.), and junior
Jemma Schroder (Menlo Park, Calif.) led the 'B' Division boat to a first-place finish with 67 points. Brock was the skipper on Saturday and Schmelz was the Sunday skipper.
- Overall, the Engineers tallied 12 top-three finishes with six victories.

- The Engineers tied for second with Harvard with both teams totaling 307 points. The Crimson were given second place on the head-to-head tiebreaker.

Nicholas Abate (Kemah, Texas) steered the 'A' Division boat to a second-place finish with 78 points. In the 'B' Division sophomore

Abby VanLonkhuyzen (Yarmouth, Maine) totaled 158 points to finish 14th, and junior
Maks Groom (Seattle, Wash.), and senior
Wendy Wu (Andover, Mass.) led the 'C' Division boat to a victory with 71 points.
- The Engineers posted ten top-three finishes.

Alex Horne (Broomfield, Colo.) finished second with 54 points with seven top-five finishes that included a third-place finish in the second-to-last race to help close the gap between him and eventual winner
Aidan Cunningham of Boston College.

Lucas Escandon (Brick, N.J.) earned a 16th-place finish with 153 points.
MORRIS TROPHY | Boston, Mass. | 5th of 16
- MIT totaled 139 points for the fifth-place finish, just three behind Salve Regina for fourth place.
- The 'A' Division team of junior
Matthew Elliott (Waterford, Mich.) and junior
Karen Liberman (Sao Paulo, Brazil) finished in third with 57 points, and the 'B' Division team of sophomore
Max Katz-Christy (Cambridge, Mass.), and senior
Soleh Anderlini (Washington, D.C.) finished sixth with 82 points.
- MIT won four races during the regatta.
