Patrick Haertel (Cumming, Ga.), the No. 2 ranked MIT men's track and field team wrapped up the regular season on Thursday night at the MIT Final Qualifier.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Arroyo captured the steeplechase on Thursday evening in a time of 9:00.98, breaking an 11-year old school record in the process as he is now ranked No. 13 nationally. Haertel's record came in the 100-meter prelims as he posted a time of 10.73 seconds to break the previous mark by .02 seconds.

Jack DeBaugh (Severna Park, Md.) picked up the victory in the 400 at 48.41 seconds, followed by senior
Evan Schaefer (Frederick, Md.) in third with a time of 50.27 seconds. Sophomore
Ziyad Hassan (Ashburn, Va.) finished second in the 800 in 1:51.39, while first-year
Charlie Glass (Austin, Texas) finished third at 1:51.78. Senior
Mozi Guobadia (Katy, Texas) placed second in the 200, crossing in a time of 22.27 seconds.

- Sophomore
Simon Opsahl (Redlands, Calif.) placed second in the 1,500 meters at 3:52.56 as he was followed by sophomore
Samuel Coutts (Pacific Grove, Calif.) in a personal-best time of 3:53.43. First-year
Jake Cobb (West Deptford, N.J.) led MIT in the 5,000 meters with a PR of 15:31.06, while sophomore
Walter Truitt (Houston, Texas) placed second in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.64 seconds.

- The 4x100 relay team comprised of Guobadia, first-year
Nolan Clement (Fullerton, Calif.), junior
Will Liu (San Marino, Calif.) and Haertel posted a time of 41.59 seconds to finish second overall.

- Sophomore
Sam Engebretson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) led the Engineers in the field events as he finished in the top three in the shot put, discus and hammer. He won the shot put with a throw of 54 feet, six inches, while also finishing second in the discus at 166 feet, six inches and third in the hammer with a toss of 176 feet, six inches.

Jackson Bliey (Wilmington, Del.) won the high jump with a clearance of six feet, 7.75 inches and junior
Spencer Yandrofski (Chapel Hill, N.C.) finished fifth at six feet, two inches.

Max Hardy (Houston, Texas) took third in the pole vault after clearing 14 feet, 6.75 inches. First-year
Sawyer Garrett (Sherborn, Mass.) finished in fifth as he cleared the same height. First-year
Nathan Shapiro (Glenview, Ill.) placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 22 feet, 3.75 inches.
