Sam Engebretson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) earned his second All-American honor of the championship with a third-place showing in the shot put as the No. 2 ranked MIT men's track and field team sits in second place with 20 points after two days at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Engebretson qualified for finals in fourth place with a mark of 55 feet, 3.5 inches and improved on that on his fourth throw overall. He clinched the third-place finish and six points for the Engineers on his fifth attempt as he posted a toss of 55 feet, seven inches.

Kenneth Wei (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.), sophomore
Walter Truitt (Houston, Texas) and first-year
Enoch Ellis (Garland, Texas) all took to the track for the 110-meter hurdle prelims on Saturday evening. Wei led the Engineers with the No. 2 time in the prelims as he won his heat in 14.33 seconds. Ellis also earned an automatic qualifying spot in the finals with a PR of 14.26 seconds to finish second in his heat, while Truitt placed 15th overall with a time of 14.63 seconds.

- In the 400-meter prelims, first-year
Jack DeBaugh (Severna Park, Md.) finished in 19th overall as he finished in 48.47 seconds in his first outdoor nationals.

- Graduate student
Ryan Wilson (Redwood City, Calif.), who came into the 800 meters as the No. 2 seed, advanced to Saturday's final with a facility-record prelim time of 1:48.76. Wilson is the defending outdoor national champion in the event and will be in search of his fourth individual national championship on Saturday afternoon.
