No. 11 Women's Soccer Takes Down Roger Williams, 1-0

THE BASICS:
 
- Score: MIT - 1, Roger Williams - 0
 
- Records: No. 11 MIT (4-0-1), Roger Williams (1-3-1)
 
- Location: Cambridge, Mass. (Roberts Field)
 
- The Lead: A goal from senior Meagan Rowlett (Dana Point, Calif.) proved to be the game-winner as the No. 11 MIT women's soccer team defeated Roger Williams 1-0 on a rainy Wednesday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The two teams played a scoreless half; however, the Engineers took 10 shots with four on goal. Junior Natalie Barnouw (Los Angeles, Calif.) had two shots turned away by RWU goalkeeper Coco Marrelli. Marrelli also saved scoring attempts from Rowlett and junior Ashley English (Sheboygan, Wis.).
 
- Barnouw sent a corner kick into the front of the cage that was kicked around until Rowlett got the ball and fired a shot into the upper left-hand corner for the goal.
 
- Raffaella Bruunetti looked to tie the match at 65:46, but her shot was turned away by sophomore Ava Muffoletto (Kings Park, N.Y.).
 
- After a weather delay, the game was called at 73:37.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Rowlett scored her second goal of the year and 30th in her career.
 
- Muffoletto recorded her first college victory and finished with one save.
 
- Marrelli made six saves in goal for RWU.
 
- MIT held a 15-5 advantage in shots and a 7-2 advantage in shots on goal.
 
- The Engineers held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks during the match.
