- The Lead: The No. 18 MIT women's soccer team got its first win of the 2023 season as the Engineers defeated visiting Bridgewater St. on Saturday afternoon in the home opener on Roberts Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- MIT opened the scoring as sophomore
Alice Vranka (Bronxville, N.Y.) corralled the rebound in front of the goal off a shot from sophomore
Sean Luk (Bel Air, Md.) and put a shot into the corner of the goal in the 32nd minute.

- Luk got the second MIT goal at 31:09 in the second half as her shot trickled past the goalkeeper into the far post.

- The Bears broke through in the match's final seconds as a corner kick to the front of the cage found
Audra McDuffie who put the ball into the back of the net at 89:42.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The MIT defense held the Bears to just five shots with only two on goal, and the offense generated 14 shots with seven on target.

- The Engineers held an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.

- With her goal and assist Luk now leads the team with three points.

Morgan Everett (Danville, Pa.) earned her second collegiate victory and moved to 1-0-1 on the year.
