HOW IT HAPPENED

Set 1: The teams went back-and-forth early before a 4-0 run that featured two kills from sophomore
Ben Volokh (Studio City, Calif.) gave the Engineers a 9-4 advantage. The Mustangs hung around, and a kill from
Aidan O'Brien cut the MIT lead to 14-12, but MIT did not let the Mustangs get even as back-to-back kills from graduate student
Nick Gustafson (San Diego, Calif.) gave the Engineers a 25-19 win.

Set 2: Stevenson held an early advantage pulling out to an 11-7 lead. The Engineers used a 4-1 run to pull even at 13, and the teams traded the lead throughout the middle portion of the set. With the score tied at 20, MIT went on a 5-1 run with three kills from Gustafson and an ace from senior
Phillip Johnson (Chandler, Ariz.) that gave the Engineers the 25-21 win.

Set 3: The set featured five ties in the early portion before MIT went on a 4-1 run to take a 13-10 lead. From that point, Stevenson was unable to pull even as another 4-1 run put MIT up 21-16 and a kill from Gustafson sealed the 25-20 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Gustafson led the way with 17 kills followed by Johnson with 11. Volokh finished with five kills in the match. Gustafson hit .652 in the match and Johnson hit .563.
- Senior
Max Turner (Chandler, Ariz.) posted 19 assists and junior
Riley Oh (Irvine, Calif.) had 11. Turner and sophomore
Kevin Windisch (Placentia, Calif.) finished with seven blocks each.
- Sophomore
Michael Rini (Huntington Beach, Calif.) had a match-high four blocks.
- The Engineers finished with a hitting percentage of .322 on the day and held the Mustangs to a .193 hitting percentage.
